As haunting and hypnotizing as going through the MGS series in release order and growing more and more captivated by the fandom's fabled Venom Snake without knowing a single thing about him. No, but seriously, this album is a work of art to transport you far, far away, an idea that draws you into the abstract. quietis

One day I wake up and... where are they??? My eyes dart around the room. I am unable to move in the usual way. I flop about, folding myself over, sliding myself flat as a pancake, then folding once more. I've lost my bones!? There is only one thing I can think to do. I ooze over to my cellular telephone, resting on the floor where I threw it the night before. You see, I have trouble waking up, so I throw my phone across the room so I'll have to search for it the next morning. A frustratingly chipper alarm tone dutifully attempts to break me from the serenity of sleep. Finally, my gloopy bod manages to reach the telephone. I slop in the unlock code, pouring my skin over the phone screen over and over until, finally, miraculously, through the speakers is issued the only cure for my disease... SYZYGY. That is why I am here with you all today. It is my savior. If I had no bones, well, that would be inconvenient for me. But thankfully, they are here once more. Thanks to Collapsed Structures. And SYZYGY. SYZYGY. SYZYGY...

Woozy and hallucinatory, "napolifutura" is the kind of music that would play in an elevator in a Magritte painting. Also available on tape. Bandcamp New & Notable May 21, 2016
